Unstable void
2026
sound- and live videoinstallation
Unstable Void is a meditative sound and live video installation that plays with the interaction of sound and form. The work consists of a soundtrack, water vibrating on the surface of a speaker element, a documentary camera and a screen. The light reflected from the water surface is repeated on the screen as a circular empty shape, which is brought to life by the vibration of the speaker. The sound is produced as if by playing a speaker, causing a circulation between the microphone and the speaker element. The soundtrack is 13:00 minutes long.
The piece relfects the idea of simulation and artificiality. It is an analog, actual physical event that simaltes the aesthetics of digitally crafted imagery. Shape and the movement on the screen resembles a digitally prodeuced visualisation videos. It is a organic event, a real waves caused by an actual vibrations of the speaker, but the idea is basically artificial. The sound is produced by the devices themselves by the means of feedback loop. It represents merely nothing else but itself.
The North Ostrobothnia Cultural Foundation and the City of Oulu have supported the production of the work and the organization of the exhibition.
